The sweet girl next door is no longer the adorable fashionista. The fashionista comes with more of a twist, a fierce side of her. Punk is the most fast grousing trend in fashion from spikes on shoes to leather blouses and shorts. They have taken the delicate lace and incorporated it with a dangerous leather jacket and a pair of bright red stilettos. Fur is returning from the jungle and coming into our concrete jungle that we call society. Fur has been featured on the fall 2013 runway numerous times with praised designers from Tom Ford to Altuzarra and Marc Jacobs. Bibhu Mohapatra had a breath taking collection of fur coats but he also had a leather jacket with an accent of fur on the front that played with the punk but remained elegant. Ana Sui had bright yet edgy fur coat, she also included patterned fur coats that took you back in time to the 70’s era. Donna Karen’s collection included beautiful chocolate brown fur coats that looked extravagant. When a person thinks of fur they automatically think of a huge oversized coat, fur has become versatile it can be used as a scarf, vest, or bags. Belstaff included fur vest in his collection, Badgley Mischka also included fur vest. the fur vest were used as accents to set the outfit together with an elegant look when paired with a solid color or other textures to the outfit. Marc Jacobs was a fan of the fur scarf’s in his collection, he matched them with a knit sweater and sequin high wasted shorts and a stiletto. The outfit just set off a night for an out on the town vibe. Marc Jacobs also included a mini light brown fur coat paired with gold metallic-shot shift dress. In his second collection Jacobs incorporated his bag with fur detailing and paired it with a deep chocolate fur coat, the two pieces reflected off of each other and complimented the whole outfit. Ralph Lauren was also inspired by the punk trend one of his latest bags “Soft Ricky Bag” which had a fabulous grunge biker look perfect for fall 2013. The Marc Jacobs collection was such an eye opener but the most memorable one in my opinion was the Tom Ford collection. It incorporated all trends including the pattern blocking with the texture blocking but made it look over done, fashion suicide. At first glance you think it maybe an outfit that you could wear out but it suddenly becomes displeasing to the eye. Tom Ford does include all the trends the lace and patterns on the fur but it appears exhausted compared to Marc Jacobs’s collection which is fierce. Belstaff was another designer who had the punk essence to their collection playing with the idea of leather and fur. He had leather jackets and vest that were accented with fur on the front and back. Belstaffs black leather vest with the fur detailing was an amazing piece, the leather was on the seams and pocket seams of the jacket and it just set that edgy look. The met gala 2013 set the whole Fall 2013 trends to be punk and fierce. There are many different ways you can do fur. Fur could be used of course as a coat or as trendy pants as we saw in Dennis Bassos Fall 2013 collection. Not everyone can afford an extravagant fur, but you can become fashion savy and get faux fur at your local retailer stores that still look fabulous. Knit is a texture used quit often in the fashion world. Alexander Wang continuously uses knit for his ready to wear collections. The delicate fabric has been used in many ways.

A perfect example that was done unforgettably was Amanda Seyfried  wore a see through Versace knit top with a hand knit sunglasses and pulled the look together with print sunglasses. She also wore fur matched with fishnets and cool leather boots for a sexy grunge look in the August Issue of Elle in stores now. Knit and print were a very big factor to the shoot, Amanda Seyfried the whole spread in the magazine just has that grunge look we are all excited to see more of this season. The dark colors that come with this fall season gives that girl thats willing to step outside the boundaries of fashion. and wear that fur jacket that no ones willing to take a risk wearing. The punk trends have changed its no longer the distressed jeans and boots, its become more high fashion. Trends come and go, fads change but this fur, leather and knit trend is pushing the limits of punk to a whole new level.
